For me many a times I think value is more important than money, but am not so sure if that is true in today’s world. Things have changed and everything is related to money, think about it……. What makes more friends? “MONEY”, who will like to be a friend of a poor person or a failure, the answer is clear no one.
People get to say that, value is more important simply because, they think that as a good person all you need to have are very good values, but here is the situation am a good person in the society not rich, not successful, can’t donate and be the best I can. People don’t come to me for any moral value advice or don’t even want to associate with me because they get the impression that is a failure not accomplished because am not rich or better still have not made it in life.
As a good person, I uphold my values very well, whereas that drug dealer leaving down the road has got all the money, seen as accomplished, fulfilled and made it in life, people rush to him for advice on how to be successful, rich and even some turn to want to be like him. Because of what? ”MONEY”.
Come to think of it what is this value at all; the encyclopedia defines it as the accepted principles or standards of a person or a group of people, I then turn to ask myself, what, who determines and makes these values. Whether someone is upholding his or her values, the standard set for one to attain before seen as upholding his value?
The answer is not farfetched, this is the very same people who we term as being, secured, have their freedom, seen as accomplished, making a difference in our societies, helping people out, being the best that they can, and those seen as knowing the purpose of life and fulfilling them.
What do we use to classify people under these categories of individuals, obviously the amount or level of worth they have accumulated which we term as being successful, what makes up this success, “MONEY”……… The universal regard for money is the one hopeful fact in our civilization. Money is the most important thing in the world. It represents health, strength, honor, generosity, and beauty. “George Bernard Shaw” (1856 – 1950).
Also, I try to consider those who say that they want the so-called “simple life”, it amasses me to know that they state that they will need to uphold their value which is very paramount and most important to them, comes before anything else but finally ends up by saying that they will only need a moderate amount of money, not much but then a comfortable amount of money to make them live their “simple life”, is very clear that they need “MONEY” too.
Values are not the same as goals. Goals are the tangible results we seek. They require money in other to be achieved or accomplished. Talk about those who want to make this world a better place or make a difference in their societies they need “MONEY”, money is not the end, but is definitely the means to the end……… And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that counts; it’s the life in your years. ”Abraham Lincoln”.
I have also found out that, those who say that money is not everything don’t normally have financial problems, I think being financially stable means or gives you the freedom to enjoy yourself. While money may not actually bring you happiness, having no money can certainly make you very unhappy.
In a nutshell, I can certainly say that money is more important and even turns out to be what sets the value we claim to be more important than money.
